I'm a juggling geek, who likes to explore and take photos.
Growing up in a small town hidden amongst the hills of the Barossa Valley, my passion for adventure and exploration was never far away; nor were a hero to look up to. My childhood hero was the leader of first team to reach the magnetic South Pole, Sir Douglas Mawson, whom also called South Australia his home. With this local hero a passion for the arctic regions and Antarctica in particular was formed from an early age. I first journeyed to the Antarctic in 2011 and to the Arctic in 2012. I know that the wildlife, history and landscapes of these ends of our world will call me back time and again for the remainder of my life.
I live in the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne and juggle my time between building next-gen Internet infrastructure, designing mobile apps, and exploring the colder regions of the world. Most people find me a little bit odd, and a bit geeky. I often get asked why I’d rather spend a holiday hiking in harsh, cold conditions than spend it in the sun on a tropical beach. The simplest answer is that I find exploring and snowboarding more fun than surfing.
I freely share my photos with everyone, using the Creative Commons license, this means you are free to download and share the photos, as long as it is not for commercial purposes.
